A Note From Me
Chemo Fatigue
It's been one of those weeks...I lost 10 lbs in a week. Nothing taste good except pickles. Yesterday dusting the house felt like an Olympic sport. Got up this morning determine to make it a productive day...Well, it's 7 PM and I'm still in my pajamas. I did manage to sweep the floors and get a load of laundry done, plus sneaked in a few naps... I'm giving myself grace. I'm healing.
From Your Neighborhood Mom...I used to say it all the time: “I’m beat.”But chemo fatigue isn’t just being tired. It’s a kind of exhaustion that settles into your whole body. The kind where even small things can feel overwhelming. Sometimes rest helps a little… and sometimes it doesn’t help at all.Cancer-related fatigue is actually one of the most common side effects of chemotherapy, affecting up to 80–90% of patients during treatment, according to cancer care research. And it’s very different from normal tiredness. It’s your body working overtime to heal while also dealing with powerful medications. So if you’re going through treatment and you feel completely drained, please know this: you’re not lazy, weak, or doing anything wrong.Your body is doing a lot behind the scenes.
This is What I can Do To Help You - March
Was having a video chat with my niece, Samantha Ann. She asked me if I lost my hair. In her next breath, I'll give you mine. It's amazing to me that a young woman and mother felt so compelled that this is what I can do to help you. I was touched. After a long 6 hour chemo treatment today, God gives me this little piece of joy. I'm not taking Sam's hair, I assured her that I already have a cute little sassy wig.
My Sweet Neighbor
My sweet neighbor...it was super cold and Jessica came running out of her house in her robe to give me this sweet reminder today as we were heading out to my doctor appointment at 7 am.
In Hard Times We Learn Three Things
Philippians 3:12-14 NLT
In hard times we learn three things—
we are stronger than we ever imagined,
Jesus is closer than we ever realized,
and we are loved more than we ever knew.
In light of this truth…
Look for Jesus at work in your life through every kind of circumstance. Take courage to encourage others when they are going through challenging times
When You Opened Yours Eyes This Morning
When you opened your eyes this morning, God smiled—thinking of all the blessings He had in store for you.
He’d already taken care of every unfolding detail in your day, covered each corner of it with His grace, and tucked His love into every moment.
God delights in who you are—the one and only you he made in all the world.
Father, thank you for allowing me to experience Your perfect love. Open my heart to the fullness of your love. Hold my hand as I step out in faith to love the world around me.
Every Day Begins and Ends With His Purpose
In the ever-changing circumstances of life, there is a faithful, never-changing God in control.
Every day begins and ends with his purpose—there isn’t a detail that escapes his eye... a trial that doesn’t touch his heart... or a single experience beyond his compassion.
Every moment of your life is in his care. Not just because he’s powerful, though he is. Not just because he knows what he’s doing, though he does.
But because he loves you faithfully, measurably, and constantly.
Freak Out Mode - January
Thank you Guys & Gals from Public Works! Returned from a procedure and found these beauties in my room. You put a smile on my face.
I haven't said much, basically because as Matt, one of my Superintendents, said to me this morning, "We are in Freak Out mode." That sums it up perfectly. I came because of an infection in my gland above my jawline, that was not responding to antibiotics. Dr. Linda thought she just needed a stronger antibiotic. Not the case. I still don't have the answers. Pathologist reports take a while. In the meantime we have been able to speak with the Ear, Nose, Throat Specialist along with Oncology. They all agree that this has been caught early.
I've been able to spend time with a wise Christian woman and counsel from a mentor of mine. I am taking a prayerful minded and positivity approach to this. I'm praying for clarity in decisions that we may need to make.
Last but not least, My sweet husband has been amazing. When I fall off track he guides me back. One thing I know for sure is that it is all going to be okay.
I feel your prayers.
A Funny Note - January
Hey there Miss Linda!!
Due to intelligence gained by some of my best, extremely sassy, Detective Clients, as well as a few of my Facebook sleuths, it has come to my attention that you are hanging out in a beautiful, plush gown on one of the higher floors of healthcare facility in Ft Myers ringing in the new year!!
And who said that you didn't know how to have a good time?!?!
...I almost fell out of my bed reading this. This came from my former boss, friend and Christian brother. He and his wife are such a blessing.
